Jose Mourinho hailed his Chelsea side's amazing team spirit after they fought back to earn a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League thanks to a sensational last-gasp winner from Michael Essien.
The Blues' dreams of reaching the last four looked over when former Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes had given Valencia a first-half lead on the night and a 2-1 aggregate advantage.
But Chelsea's resilience, honed during a season of serious injuries to key personnel, brought them back from the brink once more and their manager could not hide his delight as they reached the semi-finals for the second time in three years.
Mourinho said: 'It was a great performance, especially in the second half. A great performance against a good team. We had a difficult start and were losing 1-0 and out of the competition.
'But the second half was amazing. We dominated the second half but I did not have to give a hot half-time talk. I was just telling my players to be strong and to have a strong mentality.
